Depression and Anxiety

  • Everyone experiences stress, worry, or periods of feeling down from time to time. However, when anxiety, depression, chronic stress, or emotional overwhelm begin affecting your daily life, relationships, work, or overall well-being, it can feel difficult to find a way forward.

You may find yourself constantly worrying, overthinking situations, feeling emotionally exhausted, or struggling to enjoy things that once brought you happiness. Some people experience a persistent sense of sadness, hopelessness, or lack of motivation, while others feel trapped in cycles of racing thoughts, self-criticism, or ongoing stress.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, you are not alone. Counselling can provide a supportive space to better understand what you are experiencing and develop healthier ways of coping.

  • Anxiety and depression are often more complex than simply "thinking positively" or trying harder to feel better. Many emotional struggles are connected to deeper patterns involving life experiences, stress, trauma, relationships, and the nervous system's response to ongoing challenges.

    Anxiety may show up as:

    • Excessive worry or overthinking

    • Racing thoughts

    • Difficulty relaxing

    • Restlessness or irritability

    • Panic attacks

    • Physical symptoms such as tension, headaches, or disrupted sleep

    Depression may involve:

    • Persistent sadness or low mood

    • Loss of motivation or interest

    • Feelings of hopelessness

    • Low energy or fatigue

    • Difficulty concentrating

    • Withdrawal from activities or relationships

Chronic stress and emotional overwhelm can affect both the mind and body, leaving you feeling emotionally drained, reactive, or stuck in survival mode.

  • Therapy offers an opportunity to slow down and better understand the patterns contributing to your anxiety, depression, or emotional distress. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, counselling helps explore the underlying experiences that may be keeping those patterns in place.

My approach is grounded in connection, safety, and respect. I believe healing begins when people feel understood rather than judged. Together, we create a space where you can openly explore your experiences while developing practical tools to support emotional regulation, resilience, and overall well-being.

The goal is not simply to eliminate difficult emotions, but to help you develop a healthier relationship with them while building the capacity to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and stability.

  • Many people are surprised to learn that anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm are not just mental experiences—they are also connected to how the brain and nervous system respond to stress.

I use a brain-based and somatic approach to therapy that recognizes the important connection between thoughts, emotions, and the body. Depending on your needs, therapy may incorporate approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting to help process unresolved experiences and support nervous system regulation.

These approaches go beyond traditional talk therapy by helping access deeper patterns that may be contributing to ongoing stress, anxiety, or emotional distress. As the nervous system becomes more regulated, many people experience greater emotional balance, improved coping abilities, and a stronger sense of calm.

  • Living with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, or emotional overwhelm can feel exhausting, but meaningful change is possible. Therapy can help you better understand yourself, strengthen your emotional resilience, and develop practical tools for navigating life's challenges.

Whether you are experiencing ongoing worry, low mood, burnout, emotional exhaustion, or simply feeling stuck, counselling can provide the support needed to move toward a life that feels more balanced, connected, and manageable.

You do not have to carry everything on your own. With the right support, it is possible to regain a sense of clarity, stability, and hope for the future.
